The big day is drawing near, and now it’s time to work out how to do a job interview well enough so that you get employed. Your physical preparation for the meeting is crucial.
A lot of my interview coaching clients ask me what they should wear to an interview. It is a good idea to find out what people normally wear at work and go one notch smarter. The trick is to look like you are prepared for the interview and could roll up your sleeves and start the role straight away.
Shiny shoes and matching socks are obvious, but many candidates forget that it is a recruiting sin to bring on your interviewer’s allergies. So, leave your perfume or aftershave in the bathroom cupboard.
Having a folder with all your documents, a pen and paper is also important. Have a copy of your C.V. certificates and reference contacts ready. Your research notes on the company and your pre-prepared questions for your interviewer will also make you look like a pro. A note with your interviewers name and contact details could also be a potential life saver if you have an emergency and can’t make the interview.
